Virtuelle Lernumgebungen in der betrieblichen Ausbildung sind vielversprechend, zeigt eine aktuelle Studie der ZHAW und PH Zürich. Lernende aus der Elektrobranche haben sich auf ihre Abschlussprüfung zusätzlich mit Virtual Reality-Software vorbereitet und konnten sich um eine Schulnote verbessern.

Für viele Lehrbetriebe ist es schwierig, Berufslernenden genügend Situationen zu ermöglichen, in denen sie die vorgesehenen beruflichen Tätigkeiten erlernen und üben können. Die Anreicherung der betrieblichen Ausbildung mit technologiegestützten Erfahrungswelten auf der Basis von Virtual Reality (VR) ist deshalb vielversprechend. VR wird in der betrieblichen Ausbildung jedoch kaum systematisch angewandt, was unter anderem auf eine geringe Erfahrungs- und Forschungslage zurückgeführt werden kann. Daher wurde in einem gemeinsamen Projekt der ZHAW und der PH Zürich eine VR-Lernumgebung für angehende Elektrofachpersonen entwickelt und getestet. Die fachliche Expertise steuerten die Praxispartner:innen Bandara, BKW Building Solutions, das Elektrobildungszentrum Effretikon und der Berufsverband EIT.swiss bei. Gefördert wurde das Projekt von der Digitalisierungsinitiative der Zürcher Hochschulen (DIZH).

Für das Projekt wurde von der ZHAW der Prototyp einer VR-Lernumgebung entwickelt, mit der Lernende die Prüfung einer elektrischen Installation in einer virtuellen Garage mit einer VR-Brille üben können. Das didaktische Konzept steuerte die PH Zürich bei. «Wir wissen, dass Lernende in komplexen technischen Abläufen – ob real oder virtuell – häufig stark gefordert und auf strukturierende Begleitung angewiesen sind. Deshalb haben wir die VR-Simulation mit einem Hilfs- und Fragesystem sowie mit Game-Elementen angereichert, um daraus eine wirksame VR-Lernumgebung zu machen», erklärt der Erziehungswissenschaftler Martin Berger von der PH Zürich.

In einer Feldstudie wurden die Leistungen von 68 Schweizer Montage-Elektriker:innen und Elektroinstallateur:innen im letzten Ausbildungsjahr vor und nach ihrer Prüfungsvorbereitung verglichen: 35 Lernende nutzten Virtual Reality zur Vorbereitung auf die praktische Prüfung, die anderen 33 Lernenden bereiteten sich mit klassischen Lernmethoden vor. Es zeigte sich, dass insbesondere die Montage-Elektriker:innen von der VR-Lösung profitierten. Sie konnten sich in der Abschlussprüfung um fast eine ganze Note steigern im Vergleich zu den Lernenden ohne VR. «Das Ergebnis hat uns sehr gefreut und unterstreicht das Potenzial von VR, die Chancengleichheit in der betrieblichen Grundbildung zu verbessern», fasst Co-Projektleiter Thomas Keller von der ZHAW School of Management and Law zusammen.

VR ermöglicht es den Lernenden, jederzeit und überall mit verschiedenen anspruchsvollen oder sogar potenziell gefährlichen praktischen Tätigkeiten zu lernen und zu experimentieren. Den Studienverantwortlichen ist es dabei wichtig zu unterstreichen, dass VR das Üben in der Praxis und den Kontakt mit den Ausbilder:innen keinesfalls ersetzen soll. «Wir sehen Virtual Reality-Lösungen als wertvolle Ergänzung in der beruflichen Grundbildung. Die Ergebnisse des Projekts weisen darauf hin, dass didaktisch fundierte virtuelle Erfahrungs- und Lernräume betriebliches Lernen unterstützen und dabei für den Aufbau beruflicher Handlungskompetenzen wirksam sein können», sagt Co-Projektleiterin Elke Brucker-Kley von der ZHAW School of Management and Law. Der Prototyp der VR-Lernumgebung wird momentan von der Firma [Bandara](https://www.bandara.ch/) für die über 300 Lernenden der [Bauman-Kölliker-Gruppe](https://baumann-koelliker-gruppe.ch/) weiterentwickelt.

#### Über uns

Die Handelskammer und Arbeitgebervereinigung Winterthur HAW ist 1992 aus der Fusion der Kaufmännischen Gesellschaft Handelskammer Winterthur und dem Arbeitgeberverband Winterthur entstanden. Ihre Wurzeln gehen bis ins Jahr 1801 zurück. Die HAW prägte die wirtschaftliche Entwicklung der Stadt Winterthur und trägt bis heute dazu bei, dass Winterthur ein Wirtschaftsstandort mit gut ausgebauter Infrastruktur ist.
