**Im Oktober 2022 kündigte der Rieter-Konzern zusammen mit der Johann Jacob Rieter-Stiftung an, eine Stiftungsprofessur für Industrial Artificial Intelligence an der ZHAW School of Engineering zu unterstützen. Dr. Alisa Rupenyan wird die neue Professur ab 1. September 2023 übernehmen. Sie wird Lehre und Forschung im Bereich neurosymbolischer Ansätze für industrielle Anwendungen der Künstlichen Intelligenz vorantreiben.**

Seit 2018 leitet Dr. Alisa Rupenyan eine Forschungsgruppe für Advanced Control and Automation bei der inspire AG. Das ist der strategische Partner der ETH Zürich für den Wissens- und Technologietransfer auf dem Gebiet der Produktionstechnik. In dieser Funktion leitet sie Forschungsprojekte zu Prozessoptimierung, industrieller Steuerung und maschinellem Lernen für Anwendungen, die eng mit der Fertigung verbunden sind. Zudem ist sie leitende Wissenschaftlerin am Automatic Control Laboratory der ETH Zürich und Expertin bei der Schweizer Innovationsagentur Innosuisse. Zuvor entwarf sie als Leiterin der Anwendungsentwicklung industrielle Sortierlösungen bei der QualySense AG, einem Schweizer Startup im Bereich Robotik und Agrartechnik. Nach einem Masterabschluss in Laserphysik an der Universität Sofia in Bulgarien promovierte Dr. Alisa Rupenyan an der Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam und erhielt im Anschluss ein zweijähriges Postdoc-Stipendium der ETH Zürich.

Die neue Stiftungsprofessur am Centre for Artificial Intelligence der ZHAW School of Engineering widmet sich insbesondere der Entwicklung und Anwendung von prinzipiengeleitetem, neurosymbolisch inspiriertem Lernen im Zusammenhang mit Prozessen in Produktion und Service. Diese kombinieren maschinelles Lernen mit wissensbasierten Systemen. Daneben sollen Grundlagen- und Vertiefungsmodule für die Bachelorstudiengänge Informatik und Data Science sowie für den Master of Science in Engineering angeboten werden. Zu diesem Zweck entsteht eine eigene Forschungsgruppe.

Wie bereits im Oktober 2022 mitgeteilt, erfolgt die Finanzierung der Professur je hälftig durch den Rieter-Konzern und die Johann Jacob Rieter-Stiftung über einen Zeitraum von sechs Jahren und mit einem jährlichen Beitrag in Höhe von 300 000 CHF. Für Rieter steht das Engagement im Zusammenhang mit der Umsetzung der Strategie der Technologieführerschaft. Der Beitrag der Johann Jacob Rieter-Stiftung an die Finanzierung der Professur erfolgt im Sinne der Winterthurer Cluster-Initiative.

#### Über uns

Die Handelskammer und Arbeitgebervereinigung Winterthur HAW ist 1992 aus der Fusion der Kaufmännischen Gesellschaft Handelskammer Winterthur und dem Arbeitgeberverband Winterthur entstanden. Ihre Wurzeln gehen bis ins Jahr 1801 zurück. Die HAW prägte die wirtschaftliche Entwicklung der Stadt Winterthur und trägt bis heute dazu bei, dass Winterthur ein Wirtschaftsstandort mit gut ausgebauter Infrastruktur ist.
