**Die Bedeutung von ESG hat für viele Schweizer Unternehmen zugenommen. Dennoch sind viele Unternehmen häufig nicht auf ein entsprechendes Reporting vorbereitet. Lediglich gute 40 Prozent werden einen ESG-Bericht veröffentlichen. Umweltaspekte haben in Unternehmen in den letzten drei Jahren an Wichtigkeit gewonnen, soziale Dimensionen wie Einkommensgleichheit und Arbeitssicherheit hingegen weniger. Führungskräfte erkennen den strategischen Wert von ESG-Daten, deren effektive Nutzung zur Steigerung des Geschäftserfolgs bedarf weiterer Entwicklung. Dies zeigt eine aktuelle Umfrage unter Schweizer Unternehmen der Swiss Managers Survey.**

Die fünfte Swiss Managers Survey befragte im April und Mai 2024 Schweizer Unternehmen zum Thema ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance). Die repräsentative Umfrage führten die Zürcher Hochschule für Angewandte Wissenschaften (ZHAW), die Fachhochschule Graubünden (FH Graubünden), die Scuola universitaria professionale della Svizzera italiana (SUPSI) und die Haute École Arc (HE-Arc) durch. Mit über 400 teilnehmenden Manager:innen aus allen Landesteilen liefert die Umfrage ein umfassendes Bild des Klimas in Bezug auf Umwelt, Soziales und Unternehmensführung (ESG) in Schweizer Unternehmen. Netzwerkpartner:innen des Projekts sind die Waadtländische Industrie- und Handelskammer (CVCI), die Handelskammer und Arbeitgebervereinigung Winterthur (HAW) und die Handelskammer Schweiz - Mitteleuropa (SEC).

 

**Gesetzliche Auswirkungen auf die ESG-Berichterstattung**

Die jüngste Einführung von Richtlinien zur Nachhaltigkeitsberichterstattung von Unternehmen (CSRD) in der Europäischen Union und die Verordnung zur verbindlichen Klimaberichterstattung in der Schweiz, hat die Priorität für das Thema ESG für viele Manager:innen erhöht. Dennoch scheint ein erheblicher Teil der Unternehmen nicht auf das neue ESG-Reporting vorbereitet zu sein. Lediglich etwas mehr als 40 Prozent der Schweizer Unternehmen werden im Jahr 2024 einen ESG-Bericht veröffentlichen. «Besonders alarmierend ist, dass 10 Prozent der nun gesetzlich zur Berichterstattung verpflichteten Unternehmen, in diesem Jahr keinen Bericht veröffentlichen werden», sagt Siyana Gurova vom Center for Global Competitiveness an der ZHAW School of Management and Law. Während die allgemeine Bereitschaft zur Publikation von ESG-Berichten hoch ist, bestehen in der Praxis Herausforderungen wie technische Probleme und ein Mangel an spezialisierten Mitarbeitenden. Während knapp die Hälfte der multinationalen Unternehmen eine:n dedizierte:n ESG-Beauftragte:n in ihrem Top-Management hat, sind es bei kleinen und mittleren Unternehmen weniger als 30 Prozent. Nicht nur der Unternehmensgrösse kommt ein bedeutender Einfluss auf die Bereitschaft zur Einhaltung von ESG-Standards und deren Network Partners 2 Berichterstattung zu, sondern auch den Sprachregionen. Insbesondere die französischsprachigen Regionen hinken hinterher.

 

**Bewusstsein von Unternehmen nimmt zu **

Trotz eines nur geringen Anstiegs der Anzahl der Unternehmen, die im Jahr 2024 über ESG Themen berichten wollen – etwa drei Prozentpunkte mehr als 2023 – zeigt die Umfrage, dass die Bedeutung von ESG-Aktivitäten in den letzten drei Jahren insbesondere in Bezug auf Umweltbelange deutlich zugenommen hat. Dieser Anstieg zeigt ein wachsendes Bewusstsein, das häufig substanzielle organisatorische Veränderungen auslöst. Im Gegensatz dazu haben die sozialen Dimensionen von ESG, wie zum Beispiel (Geschlechter-) Einkommensgleichheit, Arbeitssicherheit und Arbeitspraktiken bei Lieferant:innen, am wenigsten an Bedeutung gewonnen.

**Unterschiedliche Wahrnehmung in den Sprachregionen **

Die Wahrnehmung der finanziellen Auswirkungen von ESG-Aktivitäten auf die Unternehmen variieren deutlich zwischen den Sprachregionen. Manager:innen in der italienischen Schweiz nehmen nur geringe oder sogar negative Renditen aus ESG-Investitionen wahr, während ihre Kolleg:innen in den französisch- und deutschsprachigen Regionen optimistischere Ergebnisse berichten. Während das Top-Management ein wichtiger Befürworter von ESG-Initiativen ist, spielen externe Faktoren wie regulatorische Anforderungen und Erwartungen von Verbraucher:innen eine noch grössere Rolle. Folglich werden ESG-Daten vorwiegend in der Produktentwicklung und im Marketing eingesetzt, während Personalabteilungen am wenigsten von ESG-Strategien betroffen sind. Herausforderungen und zukünftige Ausrichtungen Die diesjährige Umfrage zeigt, dass Schweizer Unternehmen bemerkenswerte Fortschritte in ihren ESG-Bemühungen machen. Dennoch stehen sie weiterhin vor erheblichen Hindernissen. «Es herrscht ein weit verbreitetes Bewusstsein unter den Top-Führungskräften über den strategischen Wert von ESG-Daten. Diese Informationen aber effektiv zu nutzen, um den Geschäftserfolg zu steigern, bleibt ein Bereich, der weiterer Kultivierung bedarf», so die Studienverantwortlichen abschliessend.

#### Über uns

Die Handelskammer und Arbeitgebervereinigung Winterthur HAW ist 1992 aus der Fusion der Kaufmännischen Gesellschaft Handelskammer Winterthur und dem Arbeitgeberverband Winterthur entstanden. Ihre Wurzeln gehen bis ins Jahr 1801 zurück. Die HAW prägte die wirtschaftliche Entwicklung der Stadt Winterthur und trägt bis heute dazu bei, dass Winterthur ein Wirtschaftsstandort mit gut ausgebauter Infrastruktur ist.
