Der Tag der Wirtschaft von economisuisse vom 11.9 2021 in Basel stand ganz im Zeichen der Nachhaltigkeit. Präsident Christoph Mäder propagierte vor führenden Köpfen aus Wirtschaft, Politik und Wissenschaft ein umfassendes Verständnis von Nachhaltigkeit im ökonomischen, sozialen und ökologischen Sinne. Er rief dazu auf, die Wirtschaft in der nachhaltigen Entwicklung als konstruktive und innovative Kraft zu positionieren. Wirtschaftsexpertin Beatrice Weder di Mauro zeigte auf, warum Preissignale wichtig sind und Trendforscher David Bosshart appellierte an die Verantwortung der reichen Länder.

Das Prin­zip der Nach­hal­tig­keit werde unser wirt­schaft­li­ches und po­li­ti­sches Han­deln künf­tig noch stär­ker prä­gen, ja prä­gen müs­sen, mahn­te eco­no­mie­su­is­se-Prä­si­dent Chris­toph Mäder in sei­ner An­spra­che vor rund 300 Gäs­ten am dies­jäh­ri­gen Tag der Wirt­schaft in Basel. Das gelte für die Bun­des­fi­nan­zen ge­nau­so wie für die Al­ters­vor­sor­ge oder für die Kli­ma­po­li­tik. Des­halb en­ga­gie­re sich eco­no­mie­su­is­se für eine li­be­ra­le und nach­hal­ti­ge Markt­wirt­schaft, die öko­no­mi­sche, so­zia­le und öko­lo­gi­sche Ziele ganz­heit­lich be­rück­sich­ti­ge.

«Die li­be­ra­le und nach­hal­ti­ge Markt­wirt­schaft stellt den frei­en, selbst­be­stimm­ten Men­schen ins Zen­trum», be­ton­te Mäder. Sie setze pri­mär auf Ei­gen­ver­ant­wor­tung und In­no­va­ti­on und erst sub­si­di­är auf Re­gu­lie­rung und den Staat. Sie solle die Wett­be­werbs­fä­hig­keit ver­bes­sern, die na­tür­li­chen Le­bens­grund­la­gen er­hal­ten, den ge­sell­schaft­li­chen Zu­sam­men­halt stär­ken und damit auch den nach­fol­gen­den Ge­ne­ra­tio­nen eine le­bens­wer­te Zu­kunft er­mög­li­chen.

#### NACH­HAL­TI­GE ENT­WICK­LUNG ALS GRUND­LA­GE DER WOHL­FAHRT

Das Prin­zip der Nach­hal­tig­keit stam­me aus der Wirt­schaft, er­klär­te Chris­toph Mäder, und habe im heu­ti­gen Ver­ständ­nis immer drei Di­men­sio­nen: die öko­no­mi­sche, die so­zia­le und die öko­lo­gi­sche. Echte Nach­hal­tig­keit gebe es nur unter Be­rück­sich­ti­gung aller drei Di­men­sio­nen. «Diese bil­den zu­sam­men die Grund­la­ge für das ma­te­ri­el­le, so­zia­le und kul­tu­rel­le Wohl­er­ge­hen un­se­rer Ge­sell­schaft. Eine Po­li­tik, die ein­sei­tig auf öko­lo­gi­sche Nach­hal­tig­keit fo­kus­siert und die wirt­schaft­li­chen und ge­sell­schaft­li­chen Aus­wir­kun­gen ver­nach­läs­si­ge, ist nicht nach­hal­tig, kann nicht nach­hal­tig sein», sagte Mäder.

Als Bei­spiel für die Be­deu­tung aller drei Di­men­sio­nen der Nach­hal­tig­keit nann­te Mäder die Zu­kunft un­se­rer Strom­ver­sor­gung. Die Dekar­bo­ni­sie­rung des Ver­kehrs und der Hei­zun­gen sei mit Blick auf die öko­lo­gi­sche Nach­hal­tig­keit not­wen­dig. Aber wenn die Po­li­tik eine zu­neh­men­de Ver­knap­pung des Stroms in Kauf nehme, sei das weder öko­no­misch noch so­zi­al nach­hal­tig.  

#### EX­TER­NE EF­FEK­TE IN DIE PREI­SE VON GÜ­TERN EIN­BE­ZIE­HEN

Öko­no­min und Wirt­schafts­ex­per­tin **Bea­tri­ce Weder di Mauro**, Prä­si­den­tin des Cent­re for Eco­no­mic Po­li­cy Re­se­arch, nahm in ihrem Keyno­te-Re­fe­rat Bezug auf den Ta­gungs­ti­tel «Kann denn Wachs­tum Sünde sein?»: Wirt­schafts­wachs­tum sei aus öko­no­mi­scher Sicht nicht nach­hal­tig, wenn die Prei­se falsch seien, sagte sie und schlug damit den Bogen zu den ex­ter­nen Ef­fek­ten und zum Kli­ma­wan­del als kon­kre­tem Bei­spiel dafür. Wenn es um Ver­knap­pung von Ge­mein­schafts­gü­tern wie das glo­ba­le CO2-Bud­get gehe, müsse dies in die Prei­se für Güter und Dienst­leis­tun­gen ein­flies­sen – am bes­ten in Form von Len­kungs­ab­ga­ben.

We­ni­ger ef­fi­zi­ent, aber in der Po­li­tik be­lieb­ter sei der Weg über Re­gu­lie­run­gen und Sub­ven­tio­nen. So sei es of­fen­sicht­lich schwie­ri­ger, die Prei­se fürs Au­to­fah­ren an­zu­he­ben als das Bahn­fah­ren zu sub­ven­tio­nie­ren. Das löse aber das Pro­blem nicht. Hier stehe die Welt­ge­mein­schaft vor einer gros­sen Auf­ga­be, sagte Weder di Mauro. Es sei klar, dass es mas­si­ve staat­li­che und glo­bal ko­or­di­nier­te Ak­tio­nen brau­chen werde.

#### REI­CHE NA­TIO­NEN STE­HEN IN DER VER­ANT­WOR­TUNG

Der glo­ba­le Kampf um Res­sour­cen werde sich ver­schär­fen, ist auch Trend­for­scher **David Boss­hart**, Prä­si­dent der G. und A. Dutt­wei­ler-Stif­tung, über­zeugt. Wir wür­den auf eine kon­flikt­rei­che­re Welt zu­ge­hen und die gros­se Frage sei, mit wel­chen or­ga­ni­sa­to­ri­schen Vor­keh­run­gen wir diese Her­aus­for­de­run­gen an­ge­hen wer­den? Für ihn stehe selbst­ver­ständ­lich der freie Markt im Vor­der­grund. Zu­sätz­lich müss­ten aber ex­ter­ne Ef­fek­te aus­rei­chend be­rück­sich­tigt wer­den – zum Bei­spiel beim Kli­ma­schutz.

Hier seien die rei­chen Na­tio­nen klar in der Ver­ant­wor­tung, denn sie seien auch ver­ant­wort­lich für den gröss­ten Teil des glo­ba­len Aus­stos­ses von Treib­haus­ga­sen.

#### NACH­HAL­TI­GE FI­NAN­ZIE­RUNG: CHAN­CEN UND RI­SI­KEN

#### Über uns

Die Handelskammer und Arbeitgebervereinigung Winterthur HAW ist 1992 aus der Fusion der Kaufmännischen Gesellschaft Handelskammer Winterthur und dem Arbeitgeberverband Winterthur entstanden. Ihre Wurzeln gehen bis ins Jahr 1801 zurück.
