Nach jahrelangen Verhandlungen und dem Abwarten der Referendumsfrist ist am 1. Oktober 2025 der grosse Tag für den Freihandel mit Indien. An diesem Tag tritt das Abkommen in Kraft und kann von den Firmen endlich genutzt werden. economiesuisse begrüsst diese rasche Inkraftsetzung ausdrücklich. Das Freihandelsabkommen mit dem weltweit bevölkerungsreichsten und wirtschaftlich stark wachsenden Land kommt genau zur richtigen Zeit. Die Schweizer Exportwirtschaft sieht sich derzeit mit geopolitischen Spannungen und handelspolitischen Unsicherheiten konfrontiert.

Das Abkommen bietet Schweizer Firmen viele Vorteile. So profitieren sie von Zollbegünstigungen, denn mit Inkrafttreten werden rund 95 Prozent der Zölle auf Schweizer Industrieexporte sofort oder schrittweise abgebaut. Zudem wird der Schutz des geistigen Eigentums mit dem Freihandelsabkommen verbessert. Die EFTA-Staaten sind der erste europäische Partner mit dem Indien ein solches Abkommen in Kraft setzt. Das bietet Schweizer Firmen einen entscheidenden Wettbewerbsvorteil. Die EU verhandelt aktuell noch mit Indien und das mit UK fertig verhandelte Abkommen befindet sich im Ratifizierungsprozess.

Wie können Schweizer Firmen das Abkommen am besten nutzen?  
Um das Potential des neuen Freihandelsabkommens effektiv nutzen zu können, sollten sich Schweizer Firmen nun im Detail mit dem Vertrag auseinandersetzen. Der Abkommenstext und die dazugehörigen Anhänge, wie zum Beispiel die Liste der produktspezifischen Ursprungsregeln, finden sich auf der [EFTA-Website](https://www.efta.int/trade-relations/free-trade-network/india). Des weiteren haben das [SECO](https://www.seco.admin.ch/seco/de/home/Aussenwirtschaftspolitik_Wirtschaftliche_Zusammenarbeit/Wirtschaftsbeziehungen/Freihandelsabkommen/partner_fha/partner_weltweit/indien.html) und das [BAZG ](https://www.bazg.admin.ch/bazg/de/home/themen/freihandelsabkommen--ursprung/inkraftsetzung-freihandelsabkommen-indien.html)weiterführende Unterlagen zur Anwendung des Abkommens publiziert. Diversifizierung des Schweizer Aussenhandels zentral  
Freihandelsabkommen tragen generell zu verbesserten Rahmenbedingungen für die hiesige Exportwirtschaft bei und steigern deren internationale Wettbewerbsfähigkeit. Für die global vernetzte und stark exportorientierte Schweizer Wirtschaft sind solche Aspekte zentral. Auch die stetig aufdatierte [Studie](https://www.seco.admin.ch/seco/de/home/Aussenwirtschaftspolitik_Wirtschaftliche_Zusammenarbeit/Wirtschaftsbeziehungen/Freihandelsabkommen/nutzung_freihandelsabkommen.html) des SECO zur Nutzung von Freihandelsabkommen zeigt auf, dass Schweizer Firmen, insbesondere kleine und mittlere Unternehmen (KMU), stark von Freihandelsabkommen profitieren. Die Weiterentwicklung des Freihandelsnetzes bleibt daher auch in Zukunft wichtig. So ist unter anderem eine rasche Ratifizierung des Freihandelsabkommen EFTA-Mercosur sicherzustellen.

#### Über uns

Die Handelskammer und Arbeitgebervereinigung Winterthur HAW ist 1992 aus der Fusion der Kaufmännischen Gesellschaft Handelskammer Winterthur und dem Arbeitgeberverband Winterthur entstanden. Ihre Wurzeln gehen bis ins Jahr 1801 zurück. Die HAW prägte die wirtschaftliche Entwicklung der Stadt Winterthur und trägt bis heute dazu bei, dass Winterthur ein Wirtschaftsstandort mit gut ausgebauter Infrastruktur ist.
