**Das elsässische Mülhausen und Winterthur lancieren die Initiative 'Innovative Red Brick Cities'. Daraus soll ein europäisches Netzwerk ehemaliger Industriestädte entstehen. Die Initiative ist eine Chance, Erfahrungen bei der Transformation von Industriearealen auszutauschen und auch die eigene vergleichbare Geschichte miteinander touristisch zu positionieren.**

Mülhausen lancierte im 2018 die Innovative Red Brick Cities-Initiative. Es wird beabsichtigt, Erfahrungen von mittelgrossen europäischen Städten mit vergleichbarer industrieller Vergangenheit und Prägung untereinander auszutauschen und daraus Projekte abzuleiten. Dafür wurde eine Reihe möglicher Städte identifiziert. Im Herbst 2018 besuchte eine Delegation aus dem Elsass Winterthur. Dieser Erfahrungs-austausch war der erste Schritt zum Aufbau und der Entwicklung des angestrebten Netzwerkes. Vergangenes Wochenende fand der Gegenbesuch einer Winterthurer Delegation unter Führung des House of Winterthur (HoW) und der HAW Winterthur statt. 

Die Ähnlichkeiten der beiden Regionen sind erstaunlich. Die Städte sind vergleichbar gross, stehen beide im 'Schatten' von nahe gelegenen grösseren Hauptorten, sind flughafennah domiziliert, haben eine vergleichbare industrielle Vergangenheit, sind Domizil einer ähnlich ausgerichteten und grossen Hochschule und dürfen beide namhafte Museen beherbergen. Das Stadtbild von Mülhausen und Winterthur ist noch heute gut sichtbar von der industriellen Revolution geprägt. Es gilt nun, das eigene industrielle Erbe für die vierte industrielle Revolution zu nutzen. So ähnlich die beiden Regionen sind, konnten die Winterthurer Vertreter aber auch deutliche Unterschiede in den Rahmenbedingungen erkennen wie z.B. Bauvorschriften, Landpreise oder Lohnkosten. Das Elsass ist die Region Frankreichs mit den günstigsten Landpreisen.

Industrieareale sollen restauriert, entwickelt und neuen Nutzungen zugeführt werden. Das industrielle Erbe soll auch für Bildung und Tourismus genutzt werden. Angestrebt wird auch ein Erfahrungsaustausch und die Zusammenarbeit im Bereich Gründung neuer Unternehmen (Startups) und neuer Handlungsfelder. Im Red Brick City-Netzwerk wollen sich auch das sächsische Chemnitz und das polnische Lodz beteiligen. Innerhalb der nächsten Jahre sollen weitere Städte folgen.

#### Über uns

Die Handelskammer und Arbeitgebervereinigung Winterthur HAW ist 1992 aus der Fusion der Kaufmännischen Gesellschaft Handelskammer Winterthur und dem Arbeitgeberverband Winterthur entstanden. Ihre Wurzeln gehen bis ins Jahr 1801 zurück. Die HAW prägte die wirtschaftliche Entwicklung der Stadt Winterthur und trägt bis heute dazu bei, dass Winterthur ein Wirtschaftsstandort mit gut ausgebauter Infrastruktur ist.
