**Seit der Gründung vor 27 Jahren hat Swica, einer der grössten Arbeitgeber der Stadt, den Hauptsitz an der Römerstrasse. Um der wachsenden Zahl an Mitarbeitenden und den gesteigerten Anforderungen an die Infrastruktur gerecht zu werden, plant Swica am bisherigen Standort einen Neubau. **

Swica ist stark gewachsen. Alleine die Anzahl Mitarbeitenden in der Generaldirektion hat sich in den letzten vier Jahren um etwa 20 Prozent vergrössert. Swica rechnet zudem mittelfristig mit rund 100 zusätzlichen Arbeitsplätzen – vor allem am Hauptsitz. Um den gesteigerten Platzbedarf zu decken und eine zeitgemässe Infrastruktur bereitstellen zu können, plant Swica an der Römerstrasse 37 einen Neubau. Dazu wurde in enger Zusammenarbeit mit Behörden und Fachspezialisten ein Gestaltungsplan erarbeitet. Dieser wurde von der Baukommission, der Denkmalpflege, dem Stadtrat und dem Grossem Gemeinderat (mit 50 zu 2 Stimmen) deutlich gutgeheissen. Jedoch wurde aus der Nachbarschaft das Referendum ergriffen. Darum müssen die Winterthurer Stimmbürgerinnen und Stimmbürger am 20. Oktober 2019 darüber befinden.

Der geplante Neubau erfüllt strenge ökologische Standards (SIA-Effizienzpfad Energie 2040 oder Minergie P-Standard). Der Energiebedarf fällt trotz deutlich mehr Mitarbeitenden tiefer aus und der CO2-Ausstoss wird mindestens 30-mal kleiner. Die verdichtete Bauweise erhält die bisherigen Baumbestände und Grünflächen und trägt zur quartierspezifischen Durchgrünung bei.

Das Projekt ist ein langfristiges Bekenntnis von Swica zum Hauptsitz in Winterthur. Das Unternehmen schafft damit zusätzliche Arbeitsplätze in Zentrumsnähe. Die Investitionen von 25 bis 30 Mio. Franken tragen zur Wertschöpfung in der Region bei. Es garantiert hohe Nachhaltigkeitsziele und wird von sämtlichen Behörden, politischen Parteien und Fachgremien getragen. Ein Plus für Winterthur, die Bevölkerung und die Umwelt.

 

Zur Unterstützung der Vorlage formierte sich das politisch und wirtschaftlich breit abgestützte Komitee «Gestaltungsplan Swica JA». Es wird geführt von einem siebenköpfigen Co-Präsidium aus Vertretern des Winterthurer Gemeinderats sowie Vertretern von Wirtschaftsverbänden. #### Über uns

Die Handelskammer und Arbeitgebervereinigung Winterthur HAW ist 1992 aus der Fusion der Kaufmännischen Gesellschaft Handelskammer Winterthur und dem Arbeitgeberverband Winterthur entstanden. Ihre Wurzeln gehen bis ins Jahr 1801 zurück. Die HAW prägte die wirtschaftliche Entwicklung der Stadt Winterthur und trägt bis heute dazu bei, dass Winterthur ein Wirtschaftsstandort mit gut ausgebauter Infrastruktur ist.
