Das Wichtigste in Kürze:  
- Die Schweiz und die anderen EFTA-Staaten unterzeichneten heute am WEF das  
   Freihandelsabkommen mit Thailand.  
- Gestern fand am WEF die Unterzeichnung des Freihandelsabkommen mit dem Kosovo statt.  
- Diese Abkommen stärken die Diversifizierung der Schweizer Handelsbeziehungen in geopolitisch  
   stürmischen Zeiten.

Das Weltwirtschaftsforum in Davos ist derzeit in vollem Gange. Die Schweiz nutzte diese wertvolle Gelegenheit, um vor Ort gemeinsam mit den anderen EFTA-Staaten Norwegen, Island und Liechtenstein zwei neu ausgehandelte Freihandelsabkommen zu unterzeichnen.

Thailand ist ein strategischer Markt mit immer mehr Potenzial  
Die Verhandlungen über ein Freihandelsabkommen der EFTA-Staaten mit Thailand wurde bereits im November letzten Jahres abgeschlossen. economiesuisse hat dazu in einer [Webnews](https://www.economiesuisse.ch/de/artikel/efta-und-thailand-schliessen-verhandlungen-ueber-umfassendes-freihandelsabkommen-ab) Stellung genommen. Es handelt sich dabei um einen weiteren wichtigen Erfolg der Schweizer Wirtschaftsdiplomatie nach dem Abschluss mit Indien im März letzten Jahres.

Mit dem Abkommen erhalten Schweizer Exportunternehmen einen verbesserten Marktzugang zum thailändischen Markt. So hat sich Thailand unter anderem dazu verpflichtet, die Zölle auf viele Industrieprodukte wie Uhren, pharmazeutische Produkte und Maschinen zu senken oder gleich ganz abzuschaffen. Das Abkommen enthält zudem ein umfassendes Kapitel zu Handel und nachhaltiger Entwicklung sowie - als eines der ersten Freihandelsabkommen der EFTA - ein Kapitel zu kleinen und mittleren Unternehmen (KMU).

Thailand ist heute die zweitgrösste Volkswirtschaft in Südostasien und der zweitwichtigste Handelspartner der Schweiz in dieser Region (nach Singapur). Das Land hat sich in den letzten Jahren zu einem bedeutenden Industriestandort entwickelt. Wichtige Sektoren wie die thailändische Automobil- und Elektronikindustrie sind inzwischen vollständig in globale und regionale Wertschöpfungsketten integriert.

Das neue Abkommen wird zu einer positiven Handelsdynamik und einer Zunahme gegenseitiger Direktinvestitionen führen, was sehr zu begrüssen ist.

Kosovo und die Schweiz stärken ihre Beziehungen weiter  
Gestern hat die Schweiz am Rande des Weltwirtschaftsforums zudem ein Freihandelsabkommen mit dem Kosovo unterzeichnet. Das neue Abkommen eröffnet Schweizer und kosovarischen Firmen einen verbesserten Zugang zum jeweils anderen Markt. Damit bauen die beiden Länder ihre Zusammenarbeit weiter aus – das heutige bilaterale Handelsvolumen im Umfang von 140 Mio. Franken wird damit weiter angekurbelt.

Für die Exportnation Schweiz sind neue Freihandelsabkommen von grosser Bedeutung. Das globale Handelssystem gerät wegen der immer wieder aufflammenden Handelskonflikte unter Druck. Jedes neue Abkommen trägt stückweise dazu bei, die Rahmenbedingungen für unsere Firmen zu verbessern, indem Handels- und Investitionshemmnisse aller Art reduziert werden.

#### Über uns

Die Handelskammer und Arbeitgebervereinigung Winterthur HAW ist 1992 aus der Fusion der Kaufmännischen Gesellschaft Handelskammer Winterthur und dem Arbeitgeberverband Winterthur entstanden. Ihre Wurzeln gehen bis ins Jahr 1801 zurück. Die HAW prägte die wirtschaftliche Entwicklung der Stadt Winterthur und trägt bis heute dazu bei, dass Winterthur ein Wirtschaftsstandort mit gut ausgebauter Infrastruktur ist.
