Sulzer hat heute seinen vierten Standort in der Schweiz eröffnet. Der sogenannte Innovation Technology Hub (InTecH) in Winterthur Töss wird die Forschungs- und Entwicklungskapazitäten von Sulzer in der Polymerverarbeitung und -recycling weiter stärken. Mit 3'150 m2 Labor- und Forschungsfläche ist diese strategische Investition Teil des kontinuierlichen Engagements des Unternehmens für nachhaltige Innovation.

Mit der Zunahme der Weltbevölkerung nimmt auch die Menge an Kunststoffen, die für Verpackungen, Elektronik oder das Bauwesen verwendet werden, stetig zu. Traditionell werden diese Kunststoffe aus fossilen Quellen hergestellt. Biopolymere wie PLA (Polymilchsäure) und PCL (Polycaprolacton) hingegen können aus erneuerbaren Quellen und biologisch abbaubar hergestellt werden und haben einen viel geringeren CO2 Fussabdruck. Sie tragen zur Lösung von zwei grossen ökologischen Herausforderungen bei: Kohlenstoffemissionen und Plastikabfälle. 

Führende Biopolymer-Technologie   
Sulzer ist der führende Anbieter für die Herstellung von PLA, dem derzeit wichtigsten Biokunststoff. Die Technologie des Unternehmens wird in den meisten PLA-Anlagen eingesetzt, wie in Indiens erster Anlage zur Umwandlung von Zuckerrohr in Biokunststoff, einer gross angelegten PLA-Produktionsstätte in China oder bei der weltweit grössten PLA Produktionsanlage, die derzeit in den Vereinigten Arabischen Emiraten entsteht. Mit dem neuen Innovation Hub in der Schweiz investiert Sulzer erneut in den wachsenden   
Biopolymermarkt.

Suzanne Thoma, Executive Chairman von Sulzer, sagt: "Nach der Eröffnung unseres Innovation Technology Hub in Singapur im März letzten Jahres wird der neue Standort in der Schweiz die Entwicklung und den Einsatz neuer Biopolymere weiter beschleunigen. Diese Investition zeigt, wie wir die grössten Herausforderungen unserer Kunden angehen und unserer Mission gerecht werden – essenzielle Industrien zu bedienen, um zu einer prosperierenden Wirtschaft und einer nachhaltigen Gesellschaft beizutragen."  

Pilotanlagen, Labor, Versuchsanlagen   
Gemeinsam mit den Experten von Sulzer können Kunden ihr Produktangebot auf die Bedürfnisse ihrer Zielgruppe abstimmen. Das InTecH Zentrum ist mit Folien-, Form-, Schaum- und Extrusionsanlagen ausgestattet, die es ermöglichen, Biopolymere präzise zu formen, um spezifische Kundenanforderungen wie Haltbarkeit, Flexibilität oder biologische Abbaubarkeit zu erfüllen. Vor Ort ist die Herstellung von Prototypen in einer Grössenordnung von wenigen Kilogramm bis zu einigen Tonnen möglich.

Unser Team ist bereit, die grössten Herausforderungen in den Bereichen Polymerverarbeitung und Nachhaltigkeit anzugehen." 

Die Innovation Technology Hubs von Sulzer sind strategisch in den USA, Asien und Europa positioniert und fokussieren auf spezifische Technologien. Sie sind mit allem ausgestattet, was innovative Unternehmen benötigen, um künftige Technologien aus der Theorie in die Realität zu bringen – von Batterie- und Kunststoffrecycling über nachhaltige Flugzeugtreibstoffe und Biopolymere bis hin zur Kohlenstoffabscheidung und -speicherung und vielem mehr.

#### Über uns

Die Handelskammer und Arbeitgebervereinigung Winterthur HAW ist 1992 aus der Fusion der Kaufmännischen Gesellschaft Handelskammer Winterthur und dem Arbeitgeberverband Winterthur entstanden. Ihre Wurzeln gehen bis ins Jahr 1801 zurück. Die HAW prägte die wirtschaftliche Entwicklung der Stadt Winterthur und trägt bis heute dazu bei, dass Winterthur ein Wirtschaftsstandort mit gut ausgebauter Infrastruktur ist.
