​​Vor rund zwei Monaten haben wir unseren [Ticker ](https://www.economiesuisse.ch/de/artikel/news-ticker-handelspolitik-trump-20-folgen-fuer-die-schweiz)zu den angekündigten, eingeführten, wieder ausgesetzten und schliesslich doch umgesetzten Zollerhöhungen aufgeschaltet. Dieser tickt seither mit rasantem Speed. ​

Die Welt hält den Atem an und fragt sich gegenwärtig, was Trump wohl als Nächstes tun wird. So auch die Schweiz: Die USA werden abklären, ob wir wegen einer unfairen Handelspolitik einen Handelsbilanzüberschuss gegenüber den USA aufweisen. Doch ist dies überhaupt gerechtfertigt? ​

​Handelsbeziehung: 3 zu 1 zu Gunsten der USA ​  
Nein – und zwar gleich drei Mal nicht: ​

- ​Erstens haben wir sämtliche Importzölle auf Industriegüter per 1. Januar 2024 abgeschafft. Wir verfolgen auch keine Industriepolitik mit Subventionen oder anderen teuren Tricks.
- Zweitens ist die Struktur unserer Wirtschaftsbeziehungen sehr gut für die USA: Wir liefern den USA beispielsweise hochwertige Maschinen, welche sie für ihre Reindustrialisierung dringend brauchen, um wettbewerbsfähiger zu werden. Bei den Industriegütern hat die Schweiz einen Exportüberschuss, beim Dienstleistungshandel wiederum die USA.
- Drittens fliesst bei den Direktinvestitionen so viel Schweizer Kapital in die USA, dass unser Land die weltweit sechstgrösste Direktinvestorin in den USA ist. Unsere Unternehmen schaffen 500'000 Arbeitsplätze vor Ort, und was für welche: Der Durchschnittslohn beträgt 130'000 US-Dollar! ​

​Die USA punkten also drei Mal bei den Wirtschaftsbeziehungen mit der Schweiz. Die Schweiz macht hingegen einen Punkt bei den Industriegütern: In der Tat exportieren wir mehr Industriegüter in die USA als umgekehrt. Dahinter stehen aber harte Arbeit und Innovation – und eben keine unfairen Handelsmassnahmen. Somit steht es bei den Handelsbeziehungen 3:1 für die USA. ​

​Es gibt zudem einen weiteren strategischen Bereich, wo die USA massiv von der Schweiz profitiert: Unsere Unternehmen sind die Nummer 1 der grössten ausländischen Direktinvestoren in Forschung und Entwicklung in den USA. Sollte eigentlich einen Zusatzpunkt geben! ​

​Somit schaffen unsere Unternehmen in den USA Jobs, gute Löhne, bringen Innovation ins Land, stärken die industrielle Wettbewerbsfähigkeit mit Topmaschinen. Ebenso sind sie unverzichtbar bei der Behandlung schwerer Krankheiten. ​​

Fazit: Die Schweiz ist einer der besten Wirtschaftspartner, den die USA überhaupt haben. ​

​Handelskriege sind schlecht für die Exportnation Schweiz ​  
Trotzdem halten auch wir in der Schweiz den Atem an. Handelskriege sind schlecht für uns, schlecht für alle Volkswirtschaften. Die Unsicherheit ist gross. Wir sind eine Exportnation. Hohe Zölle hätten auch für uns negative Folgen. Die Amerikaner würden diese zwar auch selbst zahlen, doch die hohen Zusatzkosten würden die Nachfrage nach unseren Maschinen, Uhren oder Medikamenten sinken lassen. ​

​Auch die Finanzmärkte halten den Atem an: Aktien- und Kryptomärkte sind eingebrochen. Die Investoren sind verunsichert. Die Nervosität ist nicht unbegründet. Hohe Zölle heizen die Inflation an und sind Massenvernichtung realer Kaufkraft. Sie werden am Schluss immer von den Konsumentinnen und Konsumenten bezahlt. Steigende Inflation wird die US-Zentralbank mit höheren Zinsen bekämpfen müssen. Das wird die zinssensible US-Wirtschaft erst recht bremsen – eine Rezession wäre dann das Hauptszenario. ​

​Halten wir daher fest, dass die disruptive Handelspolitik letztlich vor allem auch die US-Wirtschaft selbst treffen wird. Das wissen auch die Entscheidungsträger in Washington D.C.. Daraus folgen zwei Aktionsfelder für die internationale Handelspolitik: Massnahmen gegen US-Zölle sollten unbedingt so ausgerichtet sein, dass sie auf keinen Fall Drittstaaten treffen. Und falls die «fluide» Handelspolitik primär die US-Position bei Verhandlungen stärken soll, dann sollen diese Verhandlungen möglichst zügig aufgenommen werden. Es gibt keinen Grund damit bis zum Ausbruch einer globalen Rezession zu warten.​

#### Über uns

Die Handelskammer und Arbeitgebervereinigung Winterthur HAW ist 1992 aus der Fusion der Kaufmännischen Gesellschaft Handelskammer Winterthur und dem Arbeitgeberverband Winterthur entstanden. Ihre Wurzeln gehen bis ins Jahr 1801 zurück. Die HAW prägte die wirtschaftliche Entwicklung der Stadt Winterthur und trägt bis heute dazu bei, dass Winterthur ein Wirtschaftsstandort mit gut ausgebauter Infrastruktur ist.
