Die Smart Machines Expertenrunde der HAW vom 19. April 2022 ging der Frage nach, was Smart Sensors für Smart Machines leisten können. Cluster Manager Peter Anderegg begrüsste 20 Spezialisten von Gross- und Kleinunternehmen sowie Vertreter aus Wissenschaft und Politik im Proof of Conept Lab in Winterthur.

[Gabriel Schneider](https://www.zhaw.ch/de/ueber-uns/person/scng/), Dozent am [IPP](https://www.zhaw.ch/de/engineering/institute-zentren/ipp/) der ZHAW, stellte das [PoC-Lab](https://www.zhaw.ch/de/forschung/entrepreneurship/poc/) vor. Als kollaborativer Innovation und Maker Space, in welchem Unternehmen, Start-ups, Hochschulinstitute und Studierende gemeinsam neue Geschäftsmodelle, Produktinnovationen und Innovationsmethoden entwickeln, ist es – als Einflugschneise zu Experten - der ideale Ort für den Austausch der Cluster-Expertenrunde der HAW.

In der Folge stellte [Peter Anderegg](https://www.linkedin.com/in/peter-anderegg-a8a68562/), jeweils die Referenten vor und leitete die angeregte Diskussion während und nach den Referaten. Den Anfang machte [Daniel Bruengger](https://www.linkedin.com/in/daniel-bruengger/), COO von [Noser Engineering](https://www.noser.com) und auch Geschäftsstellenleiter Winterthur. Unter dem Titel ‘Condition Monitoring mit IoT und Smart Sensors’ zeigte er zwei praktische und hochkomplexe Anwendungsbeispiele (umfassendes Geo-Monitoring, autarke Sensorikplattform) und den konkreten Beitrag, welche Noser Engineering für den Erfolg dieser Kundenprojekte geleistet hat. Im Zusammenspiel verschiedenster Sensoren fallen Unmengen an Daten an, die in ein Gesamtsystem integriert und dann interpretiert werden müssen. Noser Engineering kann auf eine breite und tiefe Erfahrung greifen, um solche Projekte zu strukturieren und zu digitalisieren. Bruengger zeigte auch aktuelle IoT-Trends, insbesondere in der digitalen Transformation. Intelligente Sensoren nehmen dabei eine entscheidende Rolle war.

[Ferenc Bögner](https://www.linkedin.com/in/ferenc-bögner-39045915b/), Head von [Kistler](https://www.kistler.com) Vision Systems, betrachtete die Bildverarbeitung in der Industrie aus verschiedenen Blickwinkeln und zeigte ebenfalls am praktischen Beispiel, welche Rolle die Bildverarbeitung in der Smart Factory spielt. Die Winterthurer Kistler-Gruppe ist in vielen Bereichen aktiv. Unter Leitung von Bögner kümmern sich 100 Spezialisten um Sensoren bis zur Bildverarbeitungslösung. Beim Beispiel handelt es sich um die Highspeed-Prüfung von Endlosmaterial bei Stanzkontakten. Standard ist die Formprüfung, 2D-Messtechnik und Oberflächenprüfung. Mit Cut & Weld werden im Produktionstakt Fehler markiert und bewirtschaftet. Die Messung findet im Millisekunden-Takt statt. Auch künstliche Intelligenz ist bereits im Serieneinsatz. Es wird klar, dass die smarte Factory von Daten lebt und mittels Bildverarbeitung hochqualitative Daten in grosser Zahl und hoher Geschwindigkeit geliefert werden. Der Smart Sensor verdichtet Daten. Prozesse lassen sich so optimieren und automatisieren. Im industriellen Bereich steigt dabei die Akzeptanz für Qualitätssicherung mit Hilfe von neuronalen Netzen.

[Prof. Dr.-Ing. Hans Wernher](https://www.linkedin.com/in/hans-wernher-van-de-venn-72703733/) van de Venn vom [ZHAW-Institut für mechatronische Systeme](https://www.zhaw.ch/de/engineering/institute-zentren/ims/) zeigte unter dem Titel ‘Smarte Maschinen, kluge Entscheidungen’ wie die KI-basierte Erkennung menschlicher Intention hilft, die Maschinensicherheit zu verbessern. Ziel ist es, mit KI die Sensorik so intelligent zu machen, damit erkannt werden kann, was der Mensch machen will, um so die Roboter-Arbeitsgeschwindigkeit hoch zu halten. Dies erhöht die Produktivität. Der Roboter braucht eine volle Wahrnehmung seiner Umgebung. Die menschlichen Aktivitäten müssen dazu im Modell vereinfacht werden (Körperpositionen, Bewegungen, Gestik etc.). Van de Venn zeigt den Uebergang zum Mensch-Roboter Teaming und den Stand der Cobot-Technik. Mittels dynamischem bildbasierten Umgebungsmodell und Umgebungserfassung wird ein Digital Twin bzw. ein Cognitive Twin erstellt. Die Modelle müssen ein Verständnis aufbauen (Semantic Segmentation in 3D) und maschinell das menschliche Verhalten erkennen und in Echtzeit interpretieren. Die Verbindung aus optischer und taktiler Wahrnehmung erlaubt eine Sicherheitsvorhersage, wie sich der Roboter verhalten muss, damit dem Menschen nichts passiert. Bei dieser Modellbildung kommen ebenfalls neuronale Netze zum Einsatz. Die Teilnehmer erkennen, dass KI in der Lage ist, die Situation im Hinblick auf menschenorientierte Wertschöpfung deutlich zu verbessern. Im [MINDLab der ZHAW](https://www.zhaw.ch/de/engineering/institute-zentren/ims/mindlab/) erreicht Van de Venn und sein Team bereits einen sehr hohen Grad an Zuverlässigkeit und erste Lösungen werden in Kürze auch auf industriellem Level verfübar sein.

In der nachfolgenden Diskussion wird evident, wie hoch die fachliche Kompetenz der lokalen Industrie bzw. derer Vertreter ist. Der Austausch zwischen den Hochschul- und Unternehmensvertretern wurde beim anschliessenden Apéro weiter vertieft und gefestigt. Smarte Sensoren leisten bereits heute im Serieneinsatz viel für Smarte Maschinen, aber die Entwicklung wird noch viel weitergehen. #### Über uns

Die Handelskammer und Arbeitgebervereinigung Winterthur HAW ist 1992 aus der Fusion der Kaufmännischen Gesellschaft Handelskammer Winterthur und dem Arbeitgeberverband Winterthur entstanden. Ihre Wurzeln gehen bis ins Jahr 1801 zurück. Die HAW prägte die wirtschaftliche Entwicklung der Stadt Winterthur und trägt bis heute dazu bei, dass Winterthur ein Wirtschaftsstandort mit gut ausgebauter Infrastruktur ist.
