**«Die USA können viel von der Schweiz lernen», sagte der amerikanische Finanzminister Scott Bessent kürzlich an einer Medienkonferenz in Genf. An sich ging es um Zollverhandlungen mit China, doch auf eine Journalistenfrage hin kam der Finanzminister auf die Schweiz zu sprechen. Die Aussage von Scott Bessent bezog sich auf das duale Bildungssystem der Schweiz.**

Das Lob aus Übersee unterstreicht, dass die «Lehre» weltweit als Erfolgsmodell wahrgenommen wird. Darauf dürfen wir stolz sein. Immer noch entscheiden sich rund 75 Prozent der Schweizer Jugendlichen für eine berufliche Ausbildung, deutlich mehr als in Deutschland (55 Prozent) oder Österreich (35 Prozent). Das zeigt: Die Lehre ist hierzulande fest verankert – und das ist gut so.  

**Praxisnah und innovativ   **  
Die Stärken der Berufslehre liegen in ihrer Nähe zur Praxis und der hohen Arbeitsmarktrelevanz. Schon in jungen Jahren lernen die Auszubildenden, wie sie sich im Arbeitsmarkt bewegen und bewähren können. Ich habe immer wieder festgestellt, dass Arbeitnehmende mit Berufsschulabschluss reine Akademiker punkto Umsetzungsstärke in den Schatten stellen. Die Ausbildung ist auf die Bedürfnisse der Unternehmen zugeschnitten, so dass Lehrabgänger die erworbenen Kompetenzen nahtlos in der Praxis einsetzen können.    

Von der praxisnahen Ausbildung profitieren auch High-Tech-Branchen, weil Absolventen einer Berufslehre praktisches Know-how mit neuen Technologien wie künstlicher Intelligenz verknüpfen können. Das ist für die Steigerung der Produktivität entscheidend und Teil des Standortvorteils unseres Landes. Die Schweizer Berufsbildung zeichnet sich durch eine hohe Flexibilität und Innovationskraft aus – Eigenschaften, die sowohl von KMU als auch von Grossunternehmen geschätzt werden.    

**Durchlässig und zukunftsfähig   **  
Trotz aller Erfolge müssen wir dem dualen Berufsbildungssystem Sorge tragen und die Lehre laufend weiterentwickeln. In der Schweiz wurden mit der Berufsmaturität, den Fachhochschulen und der höheren Berufsbildung bereits bewusste Schritte unternommen, um die Durchlässigkeit nach der Lehre zu stärken. Heute gewinnen zudem berufsbegleitende Studiengänge an Bedeutung, damit sich Fachkräfte laufend weiterqualifizieren können, ohne den Arbeitsplatz aufzugeben.    

Eine aktuelle Umfrage von economiesuisse zeigt, dass Teilzeitstudiengänge sowohl bei Unternehmen als auch an Fachhochschulen auf grosses Interesse stossen. In 88 Prozent der Fälle besteht ein direkter Bezug zwischen dem Studium der Mitarbeitenden und ihrer beruflichen Tätigkeit; mit einem durchschnittlichen Arbeitspensum von 70 Prozent bleiben diese Studierenden dem Arbeitsmarkt als Fachkräfte erhalten – das lindert auch den Fachkräftemangel. Gut 70 Prozent der befragten Unternehmen unterstützen ihre Mitarbeitenden finanziell bei der Ausbildung, womit sie qualifizierte Fachkräfte langfristig an sich binden und gezielt fördern können.  

Unter dem Strich ist klar: Die Berufslehre ist ein Schweizer Erfolgsmodell. Es muss gepflegt und konsequent weiterentwickelt werden. Nur so kann die Schweiz ihre Rolle als globales Vorbild behaupten.

#### Über uns

Die Handelskammer und Arbeitgebervereinigung Winterthur HAW ist 1992 aus der Fusion der Kaufmännischen Gesellschaft Handelskammer Winterthur und dem Arbeitgeberverband Winterthur entstanden. Ihre Wurzeln gehen bis ins Jahr 1801 zurück. Die HAW prägte die wirtschaftliche Entwicklung der Stadt Winterthur und trägt bis heute dazu bei, dass Winterthur ein Wirtschaftsstandort mit gut ausgebauter Infrastruktur ist.
