Das Cluster Smart Machines der Handelskammer und Arbeitgebervereinigung Winterthur wurde Ende August von ihrem Mitglied [NorthC Datacenters Schweiz](https://www.northcdatacenters.com/ch-de/northc-datacenters/schweiz/) eingeladen. Nach der exklusiven Führung durch das lokale Rechenzentrum im Roten Turm in Winterthur und spannenden Fachvorträgen zum Digitalen Produktpass und KI-Anwendungen fand ein intensiver Austausch unter den zahlreich anwesenden ExpertInnen statt.

Bereits vor dem Rundgang im Datacenter wurde klar, dass sich die Cluster-Interessierten in eine Hochsicherheitszone begeben werden. Die Lage des Datacenters von NorthC liegt dabei einerseits im Herzen der Schweizer Finanzwelt und besticht andererseits in Winterthur durch seine Bahnhofsnähe, was wohl einzigartig ist. Es unterhält nebst den europäischen Datecentern in der Schweiz 4 Standorte, verwendet 100% Oekostrom und will bis 2030 CO2-neutral sein. Der Standort Winterhur ist ISO 27001 zertifiziert. NorthC stellt die Regionalität und ein digitales Oekosystem ins Zentrum: Digitale Souveränität ist in den Bereichen Daten, Technik und Betrieb essentiell. Mikic sieht sein Rechenzentrum als Chance für die Schweiz/Region, da Rechenzentrumswissen rar ist und es mittlerweile nonstop Angriffe im digitalen Bereich gibt. Die Lösungsansätze von NorthC garantieren die Lagerung und Bearbeitung der Daten in der Schweiz.

[Prof. Dr. Hans Wernher van de Venn vom ZHAW SoE IMS](https://www.zhaw.ch/de/ueber-uns/person/vhns/) beleuchtete mit dem digitalen Produktpass (DPP) ein hochaktuelles Thema und ging der Frage nach, ob dieser einen Wettbewerbsvorteil oder eine Hürde darstellt. Der DPP enthält Informationen zu Komponenten, Materialien und chemischen Substanzen eines Produkts über alle Phasen des Lebenszyklus, von der Rohstoffgewinnung bis zur Entsorgung. Der Pass enthält folglich eine Vielzahl von Daten, die erhoben, gespeichert und ausgewertet werden müssen. So können z.B. Aussagen zur Klimabilanz eines Produktes geführt werden.

In der EU gilt die sog. Oekodesign-Richtline der EU-Kommission ESPR ab 2027 für Textil-, Stahl- und Elektronikprodukte und ab 2030 für alle Branchen. Produzenten sind gefordert, Ihre Systeme anzupassen und in komplexe digitale Infrastrukturen zu investieren. Das Datenmanagement kann z.B. auf Basis von digitalen Zwillingen in einer Asset Administration Shell erfolgen. Selbstverständlich sind auch komplexe rechtliche Fragen zu klären: Fehlerhafte Aussagen eines Elementes führen zwangläufig zu Falschaussagen für das Gesamtprodukt. Die Verantwortung liegt bei demjenigen, der das Produkt auf den Markt bringt. Es ist davon auszugehen, dass Unternehmen künftig über Data-Spaces kommunizieren werden. Unternehmen werden wissen wollen, wohin die eigenen Daten geliefert werden. Die Rolle von Data-Centern wird Folge dessen immer wichtiger werden.

[Dr. Marc Stadelmann von der ZHAW SoE Center of AI](https://www.zhaw.ch/de/ueber-uns/person/stmd/) ging der Frage nach, ob KI gesteuerte intelligente Maschinen die Zukunft der Automatisierung darstellen. Sein Berufsleben startete Marc Stadelmann mit einer Lehre als Elektroniker, später promovierte er im Berich Computergestützer Biomechanik. Heute forscht er als Machine Learning System Engineer am Zentrum für Artificial Intelligence, das in 7 Gruppen bereits über 30 Forscher beschäftigt. Stadelmann umschreibt Künstliche Intelligenz als die Simulation menschlicher Intelligenz in Maschinen, die es ihnen ermöglicht, Aufgaben zu erledigen, die normalerweise menschliche Intelligenz erfordern. Ziel ist somit das Erzeugen intelligent wirkenden Verhaltens.

Er erklärt, wie Maschinen in einem Deep Learning trainiert werden und zeigt unterschiedlichste Use-Cases und Videos, welche die beeindruckende Entwicklung von z.B. humanoiden Robotern verdeutlichen, die wiederum – richtig eingesetzt – betriebliche Automatisierungen u/o Qualitäts-Verbesserungen in verschiedensten Bereichen revolutionieren können. Voraussetzung für den Einsatz von KI und deren Weiterentwicklung sind enorme, laufend steigende Datenvolumen, Prozessoren- und Chip-Kapazitäten, deren Wachstum Stadelmann an der Entwicklung von Open AI GPT zu GPT 4 Open AI aufzeigt. Diese Entwicklung wird weitergehen und einen deutlich höheren Energiebedarf nach sich ziehen. Der Kreis schliesst sich zum Veranstaltungsort bei NorthC: Rechenleistung, Datenschutz und Datensicherheit oder eben Rechenleistung as a service sind zukunftsträchtig.

#### Über uns

Die Handelskammer und Arbeitgebervereinigung Winterthur HAW ist 1992 aus der Fusion der Kaufmännischen Gesellschaft Handelskammer Winterthur und dem Arbeitgeberverband Winterthur entstanden. Ihre Wurzeln gehen bis ins Jahr 1801 zurück. Die HAW prägte die wirtschaftliche Entwicklung der Stadt Winterthur und trägt bis heute dazu bei, dass Winterthur ein Wirtschaftsstandort mit gut ausgebauter Infrastruktur ist.
